What a fantastic sense of team today at Windsor - the weather was foul outside but we merrily got roasted inside. With over 300 hundred athletes competing, the venue was heaving and the noise levels high.
Bracknell athletes were keen to do well in this final match of three and obviously sheer determination, talent and training paid dividend as 5 of our 10 teams received medals.
Firstly the U15 girls retained their title to be double champions winning both the County Champs and then repeating that today to win the league having lead from match one. A huge well done to Mia Eldridge, Yasmin Grosvenor, Abbie Sillett, Chante Williams and Natasha Bennett.
The U15 boys not to be out done also had a superb day with both teams placing to receive medals. The Blue team became league champions beating Slough by just 4 points, ironically helped to this victory by the superb speed bounce performances by our red team who beat the two Slough boys thus giving both their own red team more points but also most valuably making the 4 point difference that lost Slough the match. Of course had the blue team not put out such amazing performances themselves with some excellent PB's, then the above would have made no differences. I was really very impressed by all of you today and your competitiveness but also lovely team support. Well done Oliver Joint, James Shefford, Luke Turner, James Southard, Frank Cotter and Joel Cable.
The U15 boys red team also put put some excellent efforts and were rewarded with the Bronze medal. Two teams in the top three is a really excellent achievement. Well done to Sam Aaron, Louis Agopian , Joe Carless and Ben MacDonald.
The U13 girls have been marginally ahead of Maidenhead in both league match one and two but the competition has been intense, we were all chuffed to bits when they retained this lead and became Berkshire League Champions. Well done Lucy James, Lucy Griffiths, Lauren Watkins and Jessica Zeller. Thank you to Nicky for excellent team management.
The U13 boys performed admirably sneaking into the Bronze spot with some excellent performances. Well done to Ben Britton, Sam Green, Joel Bradford, Sam Kent and Joshua Aaron
Also well done to the U11 blue girls and U11 blue boys who placed 7th, when you consider that for the girls there were 19 teams competing this was an encouraging result and for the boys 7th out of 14 placed them half way up the field. Thank you to Ruth for excellent team management and well done to the following athletes: Lucie Rice, Sofia Foster, Sophie Carless and Olivia O'Brien, Kahlon Nnecke, Lucas Wynn, Joshua Bradbury, William Moore, Isaac Young and Joshua Simms.
Finally a huge thanks to our officials today - Ben Russell, Sam Russell, Charlie Ashdown - Taylor, Natasha Bennett and Joel Cable plus all the wonderful parents who helped on the speed bounce or vertical jump. Also many thanks for all the parental support this season and fantastic cheering and shouting encouraging our athletes. In addition thanks for your willingness to run in the parent race, yes SJAC and Bracknell were the only club who fielded two teams!
Also my thanks to all as I step down as team manager for Sportshall having enjoyed four successful and fun years. Good luck to Nicky and Ruth who will keep the Bracknell Sportshall running.
